There are many products on the market place that claim they are the best one hour whitening program, but lets consider a few things first. What does it mean when we say, proper oral hygiene?

I remember when I didn’t go to the dentist for over a year and really didn’t take proper care of my teeth and gums. But, I sure do remember, when I did finally get the courage and see my dentist. I was in for some pain to be sure. My gums and teeth were so sensitive, that they had to freeze a different section of my mouth over 5 visits. I hate needles by the way, but it was the only way that they could do the proper cleaning.

So here’s some things I learned after that horrible experience.

First, ensure that you are flossing and brushing your teeth in the morning and before bedtime. I would also recommend you brush between meals.

Second, eat a healthy diet and minimize the amount of sweats that you eat. However, if the temptation is too strong, then just brush after eating those sweats.

Third, ensure you visit your local dentist at least once per year or even every six months.
